Our Weight in the Balance Program
Over 60% of adults in the U.S, are overweight and 25% of them are Clinically Obese.
Obesity is linked to diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, cancer and stroke.
Understanding Weight Issues
Your lifestyle patterns of movement and exercise, food choices, and eating patterns can all alter your metabolism and create imbalances in the ability to absorb important nutrients and and eliminate waste effectively.
Our Oriental approach of Weight in the Balance helps you balance the hormones, behavior, and brain chemistry that govern your pattern of eating and weight loss.
Go beyond the packaged and 12 step programs carbohydrate, protein, and fat proportions in dieting to unlock the gateway to healthy weight, increased energy and increased well being by learning about our Oriental Medicine approach to weight loss.
All weight issues affect your health. The patterns of imbalance that create an overweight disorder usually indicate a combination of stressors that affect body, mind, emotions and spirit. Lifestyle choices are not always choices. Work and home environments are not easily changed. The impact of food availability and the nature of our time compressed activities add considerably to our abilities to change and maintain dietary and eating habits.
Our Holistic Approach
Weight in the Balance
Our Weight in Balance program recognizes that we are all individuals. Many of us have subjected ourselves to more than one national weight loss program or diet book, looking for the quick weight loss and have realized through experience that the successes if any are never long term
The Weight in the Balance program combines acupuncture treatments, custom herbal formulas , Oriental dietetic philosophy and food energetics to bring you towards stability in how, what, when and where you eat. This holistic approach allows your mind and body to meet.
Weight in the Balance is NOT a program of substitution with pre packaged meals, calorie counting, sacrifice or deprivation in the form of caloric restriction, or use of drugs or herbs that increase metabolism, or speed heart rate. You do not need a restrictive diet to lose weight and you do not need to artificially increase your metabolic rate to “burn “ more calories.
Dieting never results in long term success. Short term successes usually lead to yo-yo dieting and an increase in your Body Mass Index. (i.e. your fat factor). Long term balance in your weight is a product of the increase in your health and well being that occurs with our Weight in the Balance program.
The Weight in the Balance Program
A holistic Oriental Medicine program is effective in making it easier to lose and maintain that loss. The program treatments have a calming and relaxing effect that makes it easier to deal with stress, frustration and anxiety that can trigger overeating and bingeing on fattening foods. Also our treatments have an affect on the digestive and hormonal systems. Acupuncture in particular is known to enable an increased fitness level of the major organ systems involved in homeostatic and metabolic balance.
The treatment protocols are always individualized based on your particular goals for losing weight, how quickly you may reasonably lose that weight, and an assessment on your commitment to change. The frequency of visits for treatment will vary on what reasonable goals and timeframes are agreed upon. Usually treatments are more frequent in the first few weeks, gradually decreasing in frequency as your goals are realized. Some treatment sessions include breathing exercises to help in changing and balancing the breath, an important aspect of metabolic and digestive capacity. You also will be taught specific pressure points to augment proper digestion and release tension in the abdomen.
Herbal Medicine and Supplements
Acupuncture treatments are always combined with Herbal medicine supplements. These will support you by assisting in affective assimilation and elimination(detoxification) as well as balancing the emotional triggers that we have that contribute to our situational eating indulgences. You will notice that over a short period you will start your day with more energy.
