Approaching a Disorder
The physical, mental or behavioral manifestation of a problem is understood by the holistic practitioner to mean that the body is signaling that it is in a state of disharmony. Treating the symptoms only serve to ignore the body’s wise messages. There may be a deeper root cause to uncover and resolve.
The body has the wisdom within to heal itself. At Holistic Paths our therapeutic process is accomplished with the highest respect for the body’s wisdom (this is contrary to some contemporary medical treatments which seek to override the body’s intelligence system).
An important objective in holistic medicine is to stimulate the healing potential within the body-mind to give the patient the opportunity to eliminate the disorder or disease at its root cause.
Looking to the “quick fix “, removal of symptoms approach as the plan to return to health, can only provide us with temporary results
When a disorder or disease is artificially or prematurely removed without changing the underlying cause, then the long term return to a more robust health becomes illusive.
If you have tried the “quick fix” approach with little or no long-term success you may be ready for results with more staying power.
The Change to a Holistic View
The holistic treatment is always a dynamic balance between alleviating the most prominent symptoms and addressing the origins of the disorder or disease.
The return to an asymptomatic existence should not be the state of health each of us desires.
The absence of detectable symptoms can be far from the equivalent of a state of improved health and well being..
Holistic solutions present an additional way of looking at the problem that incorporates both the reduction or removal of specific signs and symptoms and actions designed to return you to a health status that is greater than asymptomatic relief.
Everyone has both regenerative and degenerative forces within us. The Holistic Medical model looks at our whole body systems and their ability to communicate, interact and adapt to changes that create disorder and imbalance. By providing treatments that begin to restore balance, our body can use its own regenerative powers to reverse disorder and move to a higher state of health.
There are many natural processes and rhythms that can become disordered. The most common of these leave us disorganized and send us in directions that deteriorate our health.
The disorders we treat are prominent in our current society and culture and their ramifications are usually evident and easily seen by others.
Our personal disorders may be manifest in our overweight physical shape, our inability to get through the day because of fatigue, or our over reliance on external stimulants like nicotine or caffeine. Pains, whether they originate from physical, emotional or mental stresses, are all shown in our facial expressions and body’s posturing toward our friends, family and work relations.
These disorders and others all have similar consequences. Our disorders all reduce our immediate quality of life, potentially and perhaps dramatically shorten our longevity, and at times interfere with our capacity to give back or relate to our family and community. We can resolve these disorders with a holistic oriented approach, designed to help return us to a more balanced nature
